Appalachian Music

About This Class

Spend the evening playing fiddle tunes -- and not just on the violin! This group class welcomes a variety of acoustic string instruments, including fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, cello, bass, and more.

Students will learn and jam on classic Appalachian and Celtic fiddle tunes, exploring Bluegrass, Old Time, and other American fiddling traditions including blues and ragtime. Along the way, students will practice playing melodies, accompanying one another, and making music together in a relaxed ensemble setting.

Beginners are welcome with a minimum of two months of playing experience.

Students must bring an instrument to participate. Rental options are available through Acoustic Corner, Music & Arts, and on a limited basis through Asheville Music School.
