Private Lessons

Asheville Music School

Private music lessons at AMS begin with a conversation. Choose a teacher or tell us what you are looking for, then work out the lesson plan that fits your schedule.

Looking for our other programs? In addition to private lessons, we also offer summer camps, classes & workshops, and ensembles.

How it works

  1. 1

    Reach out

Contact a teacher directly, browse by study, or send a general inquiry if you want help finding the right fit.

Browse studies Browse teachers Ask for a recommendation
  2. 2

    Talk through options

Within 48 hours, you should hear back to discuss scheduling and tuition for that teacher.

Most half-hour lessons are around $35-40, but each teacher sets their own tuition and scheduling policies.

  3. 3

    Set your lesson rhythm

Lessons are typically weekly and 30 minutes. Some teachers also offer 45-minute or hour-long lessons, and some can meet every other week.

  4. 4

    Enroll and pay

You schedule and pay your teacher directly for lessons. To continue after your first lesson, enroll in an AMS membership through the school.
