Letter of Agreement: Fiddle Squad Parents & Students

Thank you for your participation in and commitment to Asheville Music School’s Sound Education outreach program.

To help us achieve our goal to bring quality performances to our underserved community, consistent attendance and focused participation in rehearsals is crucial. We request that students stay committed to the program for one year from your enrollment date.

Six months of playing experience is typically the minimum requirement, but exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.

Rehearsals & Performances

Students involved in Fiddle Squad will learn material in their private lessons, primarily from the O’Connor Method books. Students will participate in one, 1-hour rehearsal prior to each performance. Students are expected to arrive 5-10 minutes early to set up, warm up, and tune. Communication about each performance will come from the Fiddle Squad instructor.

There are approximately 6 Fiddle Squad performances throughout the year. Students are asked to participate in at least 3 performances per year.

Attendance Policy

Students must attend every rehearsal prior to each performance. Please communicate any conflict or illness immediately to your instructor. Fiddle Squad instructors will handle attendance and tardiness situations on an individual basis, and the outreach program director will mediate as needed.

Tuition

Students must register and pay annual dues of $55, billed upon enrolling and on the anniversary of their enrollment. Dues help fund rehearsals and performance opportunities. Online payment and registration is available at www.ashevillemusicschool.org on the BANDS page, or checks can be made out to Asheville Music School and dropped off/mailed to 10 Ridgelawn Rd., Asheville, NC 28806. If financial support is needed, please contact AMS Scholarship Manager at scholarships@ashevillemusicschool.org.

Any questions may be directed to the Outreach Program Director at outreach@ashevillemusicschool.org.
