Camp Offerings
AMS summer music camps, ages 4-18, include: Rock Camps, Harry Potter-themed Suzuki Strings Camps, a new Video Game Music Camp, Ukulele Camp, Jazz Camp, Music Explorations, Song Circle Voice Camp, Appalachian Music Camp, Open Jam Camp, and more.
Summer music camps at Asheville Music School are a great way to begin your musical journey, enhance your skills, or even try a new instrument. Students will learn music in a fun, supportive, team-oriented environment in small or large groups. All camps include time outdoors, weather permitting. Camps run Mon-Fri, half day (9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm) or full day (9am-4pm).

Ukulele Camp
@ Trinity United Methodist (West Asheville)
Uke camp is a chance for your child to jam with other kids! We will learn to play the ukulele, sing popular songs together, and perform on the last day of camp. No experience necessary, but you will need your own uke.
IMPORTANT: Instrument required for this camp. Ukuleles are available for purchase online and at most local music stores.

Pre-Teen Pop Rock Camp
Let’s make a band! Younger students, beginners and anyone needing a bit of extra guidance are welcome as we learn songs, make arrangements and experiment with new instruments. Alongside small group lessons and full band rehearsals, we’ll play theater games, spend time outside, and cultivate friendships campers can enjoy all year long.
Our camp culminates in a concert to rock out and celebrate what we’ve learned - past concerts included songs by The White Stripes, Coldplay, The Cranberries and Taylor Swift.

Rock Camp
Come learn more than just how to play songs, learn how to play in a band! Students will gain confidence and leadership skills through making their own arrangements of classic and modern rock tunes. Previous summer rock bands have performed songs by The White Stripes, Pink Floyd, The Clash, Green Day, and The Rolling Stones. Campers will perform and rehearse in one large ensemble, with breakout sessions for both instrumentalists and vocalists.
Students will perform a final concert for family and friends. To fully enjoy this camp week, we suggest students have at least 1 year of previous music lessons and/or ensemble experience.
This camp will include a mini-workshop on recording and engineering techniques.

Video Game Music
Video Game Music Camp is a great way to play your favorite compositions in a group setting! Explore the music of Mario, Zelda, Minecraft, and others all while learning how to play and arrange compositions in different types of ensembles.
This camp will include an end of the week performance and a video game character costume contest! All instruments are welcome.
Minimum 6 months of playing experience required.

Song Circle
Come join the singing fun in Song Circle camp! This camp provides a welcoming, supportive environment for singers (or wanna be singers!) ages 8-11.
Beginning singers will be supported by group songs and get the chance to try their own voice in short, easy solos. Developing and more advanced singers can build their performance experience and learn techniques for harmony singing.
Each day will consist of learning songs as a group, with small solos or harmony sections. Songs will range from camp classics, pop and rock standards, Disney favorites, to contemporary hits. Additional rhythm and creativity activities will round out these fun, relaxing mornings.

Song Studio
Grow your singing skills in Song Studio camp! Singers age 12-14* who love to sing in choir, theater productions, lessons, and more will love the enjoyable and fast paced Song Studio camp. Prepare and polish solos, duets, and group songs from popular songs, musical theater, or other genres while building your technique, musicianship, and stage craft.
Singers will support and learn from each other while preparing for future auditions or performances, learning to sing in a masterclass style setting, and more! We'll also have a lot of fun sharing techniques and honing our craft together.

Beginner Harry Potter-themed Suzuki Strings
Calling all beginning Suzuki wizards! Join us for our week-long half-day camp geared for beginning violin students using the Suzuki method, with a Harry Potter twist. Students will learn the basics of violin playing to set them up for a lifelong love of music, while being transported into the world of Harry Potter with a sorting hat, personally chosen wand, games, decorations, and tons of fun!
Beginners with no experience up to one year of experience are welcome.

Harry Potter-themed Suzuki Strings
Come join in on the magic, music and merriment of Hogwarts Camp of Violin and Musicality. We will have wand practice, a Quidditch game, and plenty of music making.
This camp is for string students with at least 6 months of experience on their instrument. But, we do have a new Harry Potter themed camp for very beginners, the previous week! Scroll back up to learn more.

Appalachian Music
Spend the afternoon playing fiddle tunes! And, not just on the violin. Most acoustic string instruments are welcome, including fiddle, guitar, banjo, mandolin, cello, bass, and more. Learn to comp harmonies while your neighbor takes a turn on the melody. We will learn & jam with classic Appalachian and Celtic fiddle tunes and cross over to other American styles of the fiddling tradition including blues and ragtime, using O’Connor Method as a guide and establishing roots of musical joy that will last a lifetime.

Jazz
Jazz Camp is a great place for the advancing musicians to learn how to play jazz. Reading music is recommended but not required. Available for all instrumentalists and singers, we will explore standard jazz repertoire and styles, music theory, improvisation, common jazz rhythms, phrasing, and song forms.
Audition video or interview may be needed upon request.

Open Jam Camp
Open Jam Camp is a great way to get started with improvisation and playing in a rock band. Any instrument welcome! Whether you're building confidence on your instrument, or you've been rocking out for years, this camp is a great way to expand your musical horizons and collaborate with your peers.

Payment Policy
- 50% deposits are due one month prior to the start of camp.
- Full payments are due no later than 2 weeks prior to start of camp. Failure to pay camp tuition may result in losing your spot.
- You may request a refund prior to May 30. Requests for future camp credit will be given up to 2 weeks prior to the start of each camp (100% credit toward a camp this year or 80% toward next year).
- Max refund is 97% (AMS keeps the final 3% to cover processing fees)
- Payments can be made online or via check to 10 Ridgelawn Rd., Asheville, NC 28806 and include student name and camp name.
